SPACEX

The Rundown: SpaceX just received regulatory approval from the FAA for a second test flight of its giant Starship rocket system, currently targeted for Friday morning.

The details:

  • The first test in April resulted in an accidental explosion.

  • Starship consists of the Super Heavy booster and an upper stage called Starship.

  • Both rocket stages are designed to be fully reusable and enable interplanetary travel starting with Mars.

  • If successful, the test will consist of a 90-minute flight followed by a descent into the Pacific Ocean.

The relevance: Nobody said revolutionizing commercial space travel would be easy. After the failed first test, Elon and SpaceX are ready for Round 2 — and success would mark a significant milestone for reusable rocket tech.

SMART TECH

The Rundown: French startup Circular just launched their new Circular Ring Slim, claimed to be the lightest and thinnest smart ring with haptic feedback.

The details:

  • Weighing in at just 2 grams, the ring is only 2.2 mm thick but packed with tracking sensors — able to capture 142 health markers.

  • A new haptic nav feature allows users to control functions by tapping, which provides vibrations and other tactile feedback that can be felt.

  • The vibrations also provide alerts and power a smart alarm to wake at optimal times.

  • The platform also features an in-app AI assistant, which analyzes user’s health data to provide insights and advice.

Our thoughts: As health tracking becomes more and more integrated into our tech, the race for the most unobtrusive and user-friendly models is on — and with tons of features and AI integration, this looks like it packs a serious punch.
